Familienfreundlichegemeinde audit (a family-friendly community audit) was established in 2002 in Austria based on an initiative by and on behalf of the former Federal Ministry for Social Security, Generation Policy and Consumer Protection; it was scientifically developed and proven in practice over the following years. In 2006, this type of audit was implemented in Familie&Beruf Management GmbH, which is responsible for maintaining and refining the strategic focus and organizational procedure for the familienfreundlichegemeinde audit.
Familie&Beruf Management GmbH modified the audit so that it could be implemented in other European countries under the name familyfriendlycommunity audit. Familie&Beruf Management GmbH owns the rights to the familyfriendlycommunity audit brand and is authorized to offer the use of the audit process and the award of certification marks to national implementers. National implementers are entitled to award both basic certificates and full certificates.
On 30 April 2014, the Assembly of the South Moravian Region approved a License Agreement for the familyfriendlycommunity audit and thus its pilot implementation in the South Moravian Region. Implementation of the audit is based on the Concept of Family Policy of the South Moravian Region for 2015-2019, where it is included in Priority 5, Measure 5.1 supporting the creation of pro-family measures at the municipal level, Activity 5.1.5. Support of the familyfriendlycommunity audit. The audit is an extension of the support provided by the South Moravian Region for communities in building an environment which should help them in their efforts to improve the living conditions for families.
